Wallpaper

For one of my chosen 4 briefs I am designing some wallpaper and soft furnishings based on 'tropical.' I have decided I am definitely not taking the cheesy palm trees and flipflops look with this, I want the over all look to be classy and 'useable' in different rooms in different types of houses. I have decided to to start my research project looking at my 3 main tropicals already on wallpaper - Butterflies, Birds and Flowers/Plants. Below are a collection of wallpapers following the 3 tropicals, although they are not all including typical tropical, birds butterflies or flowers, this is the type of style i want from my designs.

I really like this first wallpaper, of all the ones I have seen this is the most similar to the style I have in my head, however I can not really set any of this is stone until look further and develop my 3 tropicals.

The one thing I do not want to take from these wallpaper designs are the colour scheme, they are extremely dull and dont look overly appealing. When you think of tropical you do thing bring colours, as I said above I want to steer away from the cheesy tropical vision and keep it classy but this doesn't mean the wallpaper or wall coverings have to be dull. The birds, butterflies and flowers have beautiful bright colours and i want to introduce this warmth into the pattern work.
