New idea- Batman

So after my crit/presentation yesterday i have decided to move forward by narrowing super heros down to Batman. So i shall aim to advertise 4/5 films for Batman film week on either channel 5 or film 4. I definitely no i dont want to aim this at children, and more towards adults, showing the darker side to batman, this is show more in the newer films. At this point i am researching really good quotes from the films which i will post later, and some background info on batman.

Batman, originally referred to as "the Bat-Man" and still referred to at times as "the Batman", is a fictional character, a comic book superhero co-created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger (although only Kane receives official credit), appearing in publications by DC Comics. The character first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939.
He is additionally known as "the Caped Crusader", "the Dark Knight", "the World's Greatest Detective", or simply "the Bat"; in the original version of the story and the vast majority of subsequent retellings, Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne (named for the historical figures Robert the Bruce and "Mad" Anthony Wayne)[2], a billionaire playboy, industrialist, and philanthropist. Having witnessed the murder of his parents as a child, he swore revenge on crime, an oath tempered with the greater ideal of justice. Bruce trains himself both physically and intellectually and dons a bat-themed costume in order to fight crime.[3] Batman operates in the fictional American Gotham City, assisted by various supporting characters including his main sidekick Robin, his butler Alfred Pennyworth, the police commissioner Jim Gordon, and occasional assistance from the heroine Batgirl. He fights an assortment of villains influenced by the characters' roots in film and pulp magazines. Unlike most superheroes, he does not possess any superpowers; he makes use of intellect, detective skills, science and technology, wealth, physical prowess, and intimidation in his war on crime.

  1. Hello Anna,

Sorry for delay, I can see that you've refined your concept since yesterday's feedback, so i'll try and bare that in mind with what I write://

Looking at your blog and presentation, it is evident that you have chosen a specific genre of films to base your 5 idents on; Superheroes, however you should consider the audience and tone of voice a bit more, who will you be designing for? Existing fans or intruducing to a new audience?

You've got a substantial amount of research on existing tv ident's and I think you've started to consider what channel to focus on, which would reflect the audience. It might be a good to start thinking about broadcast times etc and see what normally get's put on and what times. Another thing would be your actual research, you seemed to have limited yourself to look at ident's, so the only thing i'd comment on would be to venture out and look at different forms of digital media, sections of films, music videos etc.

As for your design direction, you seem to have an idea of where you want to go with this, but it all seems a bit broad still as Superheroes is a rather big genre.

All in all, it's looking good though. As mentioned before, I've read your latest post and you seem to be more focused and its good to see that you've nailed it down to working on Batman movies. Probably time to start thinking about the design direction, use of type, image, colour etc now that you've narrowed it down a bit more.

Look forwards to seeing how this develops.
    Tim
